These Forces-friendly employers These Forces-friendly employers have been recognised for their work to support the Armed Forces community with bronze, silver or gold awards through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). The ERS presents organisations with a bronze, silver or gold award according to the level of commitment and the breadth of support that they provide to the Armed Forces Community. Organisations must also have signed – and must align – their values to those stipulated in the Armed Forces Covenant to qualify for the ERS.
Naturally, the gold award winners are most dedicated to helping and supporting the Armed Forces Community in their civilian roles. This top-level award is strictly regulated and requires organisations not only to show and give evidence of their support of the Armed Forces Community but also to hire both veterans and reservists and run Armed Forces recruitment programmes and initiatives.
Though all gold award winners offer great support to Service leavers, veterans, reservists and their families some companies go the extra mile.
