Our Commitment to the Armed Forces

We are proud to have achieved the gold standard for our support of the Armed Forces community, moving from Bronze to the prestigious Gold level within just three years. The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award is the highest award for organisations which have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and demonstrated outstanding support for those who serve and have served.

We use our knowledge of the military resettlement process as well as the world of civilian recruitment to encourage more companies to take advantage of ex-military talent as well as supporting veterans to connect to a civilian role where they will thrive.

HOW DO WE SUPPORT THE ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY?

  • Currently supporting over 1,500 military jobseekers on improving their employment prospects.

  • Connected with over 1,000 companies about becoming ‘Forces Friendly’ employers.

  • Within our small team of 10, we employ six former Service men and women and a military spouse.

  • We work with existing clients to actively support them to add substance to their Covenant pledges by, for example, building a pipeline of talent and setting up a military programme.

  • We are keen supporters of other Armed Forces employment initiatives.

  • We work closely and collaboratively with Service charities and Associations. We are proud to be an Associate member of both COBSEO and Veterans Scotland and actively participate in COBSEO’s employment cluster and Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) Working Group. We promote the work of charities and associations in our Directory of Forces friendly organisations.

  • With there being clear skills gaps in areas such as cyber and construction, as well as ex-military personnel being suited to project management and operations roles, we have targeted nearly 200 companies highlighting talents of ex-military.

  • We regularly produce content, distributed through our newsletter and blog, demonstrating the value of companies employing ex-military personnel and reservists.

  • Through various veteran training and employment support programmes, in partnership with organisations such as IBM, Hirevue and SHL, we also engage with employers with aim of offering students jobs once they have finished the training.

We look forward to furthering our support of the Armed Forces community by continuing to advocate the Armed Forces Covenant and helping employers plan and implement structured, sustainable and measurable programmes to deliver their pledges in ways that are increasingly meaningful to the Armed Forces community.
