From training recruits to health and fitness entrepreneur: Former Para takes jump into booming industry

A former paratrooper has taken the leap to start his own business in the health and fitness industry with the highest ranked fitness franchise in the UK.

Rob Francis started his 15-year career in the Armed Forces with the Royal Marine Reserves, then joined the Parachute Regiment as an Officer.

Rob always had a passion for fitness but it wasn’t the industry he wanted to pursue when his military career ended. After 10 years in the Parachute Regiment he set up his own business building renewable properties. But he ‘fell out of love’ with the construction industry as he missed certain elements of military life, such as being part of a team and the camaraderie, so he began pursuing another career.

énergie Fitness caught Rob’s attention and he now owns his own successful franchise in Milton Keynes: “It’s like being back in the military but without all the BS! My favourite time when I was instructing in the Army was training recruits - I didn’t want to do it, but I did it, and it was incredibly rewarding, training people, getting them to achieve amazing things. And that’s what we are doing here in the fitness industry. Every day you are doing something interesting, something exciting and someone achieves something, someone succeeds - it’s such a positive industry to be in.”
