PENETRATION TESTING PATHWAY 2024

Start your career in cybersecurity with Abertay University's Penetration Testing course. Tailored to help learners develop a comprehension of the tools utilised in scrutinising the security of devices and networks, this dynamic programme integrates online lectures and self study sessions for completion.

Students will delve into the intricate examination of computer networks, unraveling potential vulnerabilities along the way. Beyond the technicalities, our course also delves into the historical roots, contemporary dynamics, and ethical considerations of Penetration Testing. Anchored in legal, ethical, and professional principles, students will produce reports of their findings and propose suitable strategies for information protection.

Adopting a problem-first and practice-led learning approach, our course teaches Penetration Testing techniques and methodologies, best practice for building secure systems.

We're delighted to partner with Abertay University, the UK's leading provider of advanced 'Ethical Hacking' courses, and the Scottish Cyber and Fraud Centre to offer a short, tutored and remotely delivered 'Penetration Testing Course'. The course is designed to help people with military security training and experience realign and improve their skills for employment as Penetration Testers or Ethical Hackers.

This 'pathway to employment' programme is designed to provide members of the Armed Forces community (serving personnel, former members of the Armed Forces, spouses etc) with access to training & certification as a Penetration Tester and, where appropriate, subsequent paid work experience or employment opportunities.

It's a 4 stage process:

  1. Application and selection; completion of pre-course training
  2. Penetration Testing course
  3. CompTIA PenTest+ Certification
  4. Paid Work Placement or Employment (where appropriate)

If you're a competent IT user, willing to learn and have an interest in cyber security and gaining the skills to become a Penetration Tester, then this is for you. And it's FREE - no need to use up ELC or IRTC grants and no course fees.

What is Click Start?

This free, digital course is part of the new nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC), a national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers. Click Start is funded by Nominet, the public benefit company that operates and protects UK Internet infrastructure and uses its funds to support projects that promote digital inclusion.

The programme, which launched in 2023, helps to tackle the UK’s digital skills gap by offering skills and training to more than 26,500 learners across the country who may not have previously had opportunities.  Shape
