Salary: £25,000-£27,000 depending on experience
Are you an ex-military qualified Class 1 or 2 vehicle mechanic and willing to be trained up to join our client’s team as a Workshop Technician? The successful candidate will maintain light and heavy goods vehicles and various items of plant for both internal and external clients. You will ensure that all preventative maintenance, test preparation, servicing and repairs are carried out to the standard required in compliance with all Transport and Health & Safety legislation.

Carry out routine vehicle and ancillary equipment maintenance and repair as laid down in the client’s servicing schedule, while meeting the legal obligations dictated by their operators licence undertakings.
Repair safety related vehicle defects to ensure legal operation of all vehicles and ancillary equipment.
Repair and Maintenance to meet all Health & Safety requirements.
MOT preparation and presentation to the minimum standard to obtain a 100% vehicle first time pass on presentation for annual test.
Completion of all legal documentation relating to vehicle/equipment at the time of the inspection/service.
Completion on a daily basis of all electronic records relating to job cards recording job tasks and time taken to include spares used etc, defect reports, breakdown records.
Carry out scheduled servicing and inspections to vehicles and ancillary equipment.
Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT test of all classes to a standard to obtain an MOT “First Time Pass Every Time”
Ensure all breakdowns are logged in writing or are handed over to the Workshop Foreman to manage to a satisfactory conclusion.
Work closely with the Workshop Foreman to make sure that costs are controlled within repair and maintenance budgets.
To keep all Workshop vehicles both clean and tidy inside and out and make sure that they are in a legal and serviceable condition.
Contribute to the development of a positive culture across the Service, ensuring that the client’s values are promoted.
Represent the Service at meetings, working groups, and other events as required.
Standard Grade in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
Level 3 in Mechanics - essential
Qualified MOT Tester or be prepared to take further training to become a qualified MOT Tester
All-round workshop ability, desirably with welding and electrical ability
Driving licence - essential
LGV licence - desirable
You will be required to participate in working overtime and standby rota as and when required
