BUSINESSES are being invited to take part in a unique new programme designed to help wounded, injured and sick veterans boost their search for a career after their military service.
The Royal British Legion, supported by SaluteMyJob, Arena Travel and Help for Heroes, is offering a seven-day, employment themed tour of Normandy battlefields for wounded or injured services personnel who are moving into civilian employment.
Using selected scenarios to illustrate military skills that are transferable to civilian employment, the tour will help participants identify and translate their individual transferable knowledge, skills and experience. Professional employment consultants will provide targeted employment support before, during and after tour, assisted by mentors from prospective employers.
The first tour takes place early next month and two further tours are planned for later in 2018.
During the tours, participants will be provided with evidence of their individual strengths and receive help to promote self-awareness and self-confidence, as well as learning about some of the key battles of World War 2. At the end of each tour, employers are being invited to meet veterans to learn about them, the tour and their skills.
If you are interested in coming along to the Employer Seminar and talking to tour participants on the 8 May at Tedworth House, Wiltshire please email our Head of Marketing, Sam Wilson.
