FDM, a professional service provider, is another high-profile company with a successful Armed Forces programme, specifically designed to help former Service men and women transition into careers in civvy street. FDM launched its Ex-Forces Programme in January 2014, and has since signed the Armed Forces Covenant. FDM provides training and job opportunities for ex-Service men and women to help them transition into careers as IT or business professionals.
The Ex-Forces Programme
FDM works closely with the Careers Transition Partnership (CTP) and holds an Insight Day every month for Service leavers interested in pursuing a career in IT or business. The programme itself is designed to provide training, commercial awareness and confidence. Service leavers will gain industry recognised certifications in business and IT and once trained, you will be ready for work as an FDM Consultant and placed onsite with clients such as including Barclays, HSBC, Nationwide Building Society, UBS and National Grid.
A team of ex-members of the Armed Forces, across all ranks, lead the programme. On their website, FDM explains: “As a result, we are able to recognise the transferable skills of ex-Forces personnel and identify those who have the skills and potential to excel within our clients’ organisations.”
- The Ex-Forces programme operates throughout the UK with training centres in London, Leeds and Glasgow and client placements throughout the UK and Europe, with FDM offering tailored training and job opportunities with competitive salaries, to all successful consultants for a minimum of 2 years
- All consultants receive ongoing support throughout their training, placement and beyond
- After two years at FDM, you can stay with FDM, transition to the client or move elsewhere
