Andrew Jackson briefs General Sir Nick Carter, Chief of General Staff on Jobs for Veterans

On 1st and 2nd July, SaluteMyJob joined Veterans Norfolk on their stand at the Royal Norfolk Show. Veterans Norfolk provides a hub for veterans to access the wide range of services available to them in Norfolk.

General Carter took a great interest in SalueMyJob's work with employers, which he was keen to link with the Army's work to support service leavers.

Over the course of the two days, Andrew had the chance to explain the struggle that ex-military jobseekers are experiencing when transferring into civilian employment, and the 'friction' that inhibits collaboration between organisations seeking to support the ex-military community. Lord Dannatt, former Chief of General Staff and Chairman of Veterans Norfolk, also expressed his desire to join up the delivery of support to veterans in Norfolk.

We much enjoyed the excellent hospitality provided by the serving reservists from 3 Royal Anglian. They explained their struggles to find civilian employment. Matt, serving 3 Royal Anglian Reservist expressed "As a reservist I didn't fall into any of the employment relocation programmes - it was a sheer cliff that I fell off".

Salutemyjob looks forward to help bridge the gap between employers and both ex-military people and serving reservists alike.
