Q. Do I need any particular experience to attend the course?
A. Yes. Due to the intensity of the course, it is desirable that all candidates have experience in either cyber security or IT/ICT.

Q. I am still serving. Can I attend the course?
A. Priority goes to resettling personnel and job seeking veterans, however, we award places to serving personnel if there is space on the course. If you are serving and wish to apply, every stage of the application process must be completed including uploading a full, up-to-date CV. 

Q. How long is the course and what hours should I expect?
A. The course is 5 days long, most days being 9am - 5pm. Candidates usually finish by midday on the last day of the course.

Q. I have registered but have not been sent the assessments. Why is this?
A.
There are a number of reasons why you have not received the assessments. Please cover the following points to check you have done everything correctly:

  • You will not receive the assessments until the following day as our registration system updates overnight.
  • If you have completed your registration fully, you will have been automatically sent a candidate number. This is auto-generated.
  • If you have not received an email with your candidate number in it, check your record to ensure that every stage of the registration process has been completed. This includes uploading your CV and completing all of the required areas.
  • The email from us may be in your SPAM mailbox.
  • Check you are using the email that you provided us with and also that you have input your email correctly when you registered.

If you are still concerned, email francine@salutemyjob.com, 48hrs after your registration, to confirm you are showing up on our system.

Q. I am having difficulties registering. Why is this?
A. If you are using DII, Androids, MACs, mobile phones or a tablet you may have issues attempting to register. Not all browsers work effectively with our registration process. The most effective way to register is using the Internet Explorer browser. If you are using an alternative browser, you may need to change your cookie or security settings.

Q. I am still having difficulties registering. Who can I contact?

Q. I have registered for the course. Will I still be able to use the info@salutemyjob.com address if I have questions?
A.
Once registered you will be contacted via our candidate tracking system, however you can still contact us by email or the chat facility on the website if you wish.  

Q. How long do I have to complete the online assessments & online video interview?
A.
It is in your interest to complete the assessments and interview as quickly as you are able, in order to secure a place on the course. We cannot reserve/save/hold back places for those that have not yet completed their assessments and video interviews.

Q. What are the pass marks for the assessments?
A. When making our selection decision at the assessment stage, your experience, motivation and assessment results will be considered with a holistic approach.  

Q. When will I receive the joining instructions?
A.
After completion of your online video interview, we make the selection decision. If you are selected, you will be sent an email containing a link to access the joining instructions.

Q. Is accommodation provided?
A.
No, it is is the responsibility of the candidate to organise their own accommodation arrangements and bear the costs.

Q. Is food provided?
A.
No, only tea and coffee is provided during the course. It is the responsibility of the candidate to arrange their own meals and bear the costs.

Q. Are there any costs to me?
A.
We do not charge a fee to attend the course. It is free of charge to all resettling and ex-military personnel. However, you will be responsible for your own travel, accommodation and food costs for the duration of the course. There is an additional examination that can be sat separately to this course and this will incur a fee. This is not organised by Salute My Job and further details about this can be obtained from the course instructor.

Q. Does attendance on the course guarantee me a job or an interview?
A. No. However passing the final assessment will qualify you on IBM’s QRadar software, which is widely used. Successful completion of the course will improve your employability and ability to compete for a cyber security/SOC type role, especially if the company uses QRadar.
