SaluteMyJob and J1 Consulting Merger FAQs

We are pleased to announce that as of the 9 October 2018, SaluteMyJob and J1 Consulting have joined forces to provide a more comprehensive set of integrated veterans focused advisory, recruitment and training services that will better serve employers and ex-military jobseekers alike.

We hope our FAQs answer any questions you may have about the merger but please contact us if you’d like to know more.

General Questions

Q. What is happening to SaluteMyJob and J1 Consulting?

A. SaluteMyJob and J1 Consulting are joining forces to provide a more comprehensive set of veteran focused advisory, recruitment and training services that will better serve employers and military talent.

Q. Why are you merging SaluteMyJob with J1 Consulting?

A. SaluteMyJob and J1 Consulting have specialised in different sectors of the ex-military market so the merger made perfect sense as there is a clear strategic fit between the two organisations. We feel that together we can make a greater impact on veteran recruitment.

Q. When does the merger take place?

A. The new employer focused company, SMJ Consulting Services, will launch on the 9 October 2018. SaluteMyJob will continue to support service personnel & reservists. J1 Consulting will stop taking on new candidates and clients from the 9 October 2018. SaluteMyJob, our service personnel facing operation, is available to you now.

Q. How will the merger affect SaluteMyJob's social enterprise status?

A. Our commitment to giving back a proportion of company profits to the military community will remain unchanged.

Q. What will happen to J1 Consultancy as a company?

A. J1's clients and candidates will be incorporated into the SMJ Group, either to SMJ Consulting Services if you're an employer or SaluteMyJob if you're a candidate.

Q. What will happen to SaluteMyJob as a company?

A. SaluteMyJob will focus on helping ex-military personnel and reservists with their job searching. Our employer services will now be offered through the new company SMJ Consulting Services Ltd.

Q. What is happening to the J1 Consulting staff?

A. Nick Everard and Tamsin Holmes are joining the new company. Iain Herron has already left the company.

Questions for candidates

Q. I was previously registered with J1 Consulting. What happens now?

A. We will be contacting you shortly to ask to re-register on the SaluteMyJob database. You will be asked to sign the SaluteMyJob privacy policy which outlines how we will look after your data. The operations team from SaluteMyJob will then be responsible for looking after you. If at any point you decide you would like your details removed from our database please contact us by email.

Q. I was previously registered with SaluteMyJob but I’ve been asked to re-register?

A. If you registered with us before 18 October 2018, due to a move to a new registration and data hosting system you'll need to re-register with us. Unfortunately your current login details will no longer be recognised on our new site. We have explored all other options but in light of GDPR guidelines we feel this is the best route to take. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would ask that you email us if you are experiencing any issues completing this. Your data will remain with SaluteMyJob on our old database until 30th November 2018. We take your privacy very seriously, so please read our Privacy Policy carefully.

Q. I was previously registered with J1 Consulting. How will SaluteMyJob look after my personal data?

A. All your personal data will be covered by the SaluteMyJob privacy policy. Any questions please contact the SaluteMyJob operations team.

Q. I was previously registered with J1 Consulting. What differences will I see?

A. We will offer what we always have done but under the SaluteMyJob brand. Additionally we will be able to offer you even more job opportunities and further support with your job search and career development - all for free.

Q. I was previously registered with SaluteMyJob. What differences will I see?

A. You will see very little difference other than we will be able to offer you a wider range of jobs from a broader range of clients.

Q. I was previously registered with SaluteMyJob but I’ve been asked to re-register?

A. You will have access to more job opportunities from a broader range of employers looking for ex-military talent. The jobs advertised will be wide-ranging and be suitable for all levels of experience. Our expert consultants will be on hand to provide additional support during your job search to make sure you are given the opportunity to highlight to employers the transferable skills and experience you have to offer.

Q. How will this affect your current live jobs?

A. Our current jobs will remain live and not be affected.

Q. What about my current live job application?

A. Your application will remain live and will not be affected.
