Vehicle Inspector - Hinckley

Location: Hinckley
Salary: £27,500 with OTE of £33,000

Role Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for ambitious former Service men and women with mechanical training or aptitude/ interest in vehicles to join a veteran friendly company. The role is to support a new vehicle inspection contract and will require you to undertake vehicle inspections, conveying findings for the customer and undertaking repairs in a safe and effective manner. You will also contribute to the effective operation and commercial benefit of the business by providing a vehicle mechanical report to business customers/organisations when requested to do so.

Ideally, applicants will have a Level 3 City and Guilds or NVQ in mechanics. However applicants with relevant military training, such as a trained armourer or successful completion of a Driver and Maintenance course are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Relevant training and assessment will be provided by the employer.

Role Responsibilities

  • Undertaking effective and safe inspection of private and commercial vehicles.

  • Maintaining a high standard of driving, courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with members and the general public.

  • Uphold the traditions and image of the company with an appropriate awareness of personal and customer’s safety at all times.

  • Keeping up-to-date with technological and safety developments. This may involve attending manufacturer courses and company courses, some of which could be residential.

  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of all types of vehicles.

  • Maintaining a high standard of serviceability and cleanliness.

  • Maintaining accurate records of vehicle work carried out in accordance with current procedures and Health and Safety requirements.

  • Maintaining accurate records of all paperwork necessary to ensure satisfactory job performance in accordance with current procedures.

Key Requirements


  • Mechanical qualifications at Level 3 City and Guilds or Level 3 NVQ in mechanics or equivalent military training and experience

  • Able to work out doors in all weathers

  • Driving licence with 6 points or less


  • Willingness to progress

  • Ability to work independently and as part of an on site team

  • Ability to work with workers from other companies on the same working site

  • Previous inspection or appraisal work

  • At least 2 years as a vehicle mechanic

  • Previous MOT experience
