Multi Skilled Technician

Role Summary

A great opportunity has arisen for a multi-skilled electrical engineer, interested in working throughout the UK and abroad. The successful former Service man or woman will be responsible to the Installation Team Leader to conduct electrical, data and mechanical installation and maintenance activities at remote sites. The role does require regular travel and sustained deployment at locations both in the UK and overseas.

The Company

Our client is a multinational corporation, specialising in managing complex assets and infrastructure. Although the company has civil contracts, its main business is with public bodies, particularly the MoD.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work under the direction of an Installation Team Leader and provide installation, as required, for electrical, data, mechanical and communication equipment at customer locations.

  • To assist the Installation Team Leader to ensure that all installation related documentation is submitted to the Customer for approval prior to undertaking any installation activities and again on completion of all tasks; including method statements and risk assessments.

  • To ensure that appropriate engineering standards, as dictated by Babcock standards, Customer standards or professional bodies, ensuring best practice is employed in all installation activities.

  • To ensure they work in a safe and efficient manner at all times to produce quality assured products.

  • To contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Programmes and Engineering function provided to the Customer so that Babcock becomes the Customer’s supplier of first choice.

  • To ensure appropriate communication is maintained with all stakeholders to create and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, Service sponsors and Company stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • Time served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent military experience.

  • Experience and qualifications in electrical installation, cabling installation and rigging certifications. A full breakdown of specific qualifications will be provided on application.

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain and retain DV clearance.

  • Must possess an adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.

  • Must possess or be willing to gain a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.

  • Must possess (or be willing to gain) an adequate knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations.

  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, SharePoint and Excel.

  • Obtain IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Level.

  • Willingly cooperates and puts in extra effort when needed to help others.

  • Seeks input from others when making decisions.
