Our client is seeking a self-reliant, confident former Service man or woman to join their team as an IT Infrastructure Engineer. The successful candidate will have proven experience of working under pressure and on own initiative. You will work towards becoming a technical infrastructure engineer - maintaining, developing and documenting the client’s IT infrastructure.
A large Housing Association operating in London and Hertfordshire, managing over 6,000 homes with a turnover of £57.9 million.

Provide 1st and 2nd line support aligned to the client’s values for infrastructure changes, incidents, requests and problems meeting Operational Level Agreements wherever possible and identifying continuous improvement ideas and Value for Money saving opportunities.
Administer, document and monitor the organisation’s LAN/WAN infrastructure aligned with industry best practice standards.
Acquire IT Infrastructure expertise through certified learning at an academic institute and self-study.
Supported by the Infrastructure Manager work towards providing infrastructure solutions architecture and project management input for specific infrastructure projects
Deliver business improvements by the use of new technology applications, working with users and suppliers to develop the full potential of key systems.
Carry out routine system and network administration tasks, including housekeeping and the life-cycle management of IT assets.
Help administer the client’s network, communications hardware and servers.
Test and document system upgrades, also to ensure all systems enhancements are logged, approved and tested to meet business needs and to ensure quality change control.
Implement, manage and maintain backup processes.
Design and carry out daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance checks.
Perform network troubleshooting to diagnose network issues
Set up new offices
Proactively manage communications room equipment.
Design and manage user acceptance testing of new systems.
Implement, manage and maintain systems for archiving data in accordance with Origin’s data retention policy
Proven experience in IT support at a customer focussed organisation implementing and administering IT systems and hardware - or relevant military experience.
Knowledge of IT legislation including software licensing, Computer Misuse Act, RIP Act, Data Protection Act.
IT Infrastructure Library v3, appropriate ISO standards for IT Infrastructure and security
A general understanding of CISCO routers and their configuration, Windows deployment services, VOIP systems etc
Need to be determined, helpful, resilient, self-reliant, cheerful, tactful and confident
Must be willing to travel to other sites
Must be willing to work outside normal hours of 8am to 6pm including weekends
Clean driving licence
Good written and verbal communication skills

Able to produce system documentation and exercise detailed change control and keep records
