Data Architect

Location: Euston, London
Salary: £70,000

Fixed Term - 24-months.

Role Summary

Our client is looking to the ex-military talent pool to find an experienced Data Architect to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a team, delivering major business and data capability investments under varied governance arrangements.

A large Housing Association operating in London and Hertfordshire, managing over 6,000 homes with a turnover of £57.9 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical expertise to drive business transformation balancing people, process, data and technology through developing and delivering key corporate strategies and change programmes.  

  • Establish an outward looking customer and future focused culture that engages stakeholders at a level they can understand and celebrates continuous improvement, the creation of value and removing waste.

  • Introduce, champion and embed master data management within the organisation.

  • Oversee the design of multiple data models and have a broad understanding of how each model fulfils the needs of the business.  

  • Develop and be accountable for the definition of the organisation’s data strategy.  

  • Champion data architecture across the organisation, and set the standards and ways of working for data architecture for the business.  

  • Be responsible for making sure that organisations systems are designed in accordance with the data architecture.  

  • Provide advice to project teams and oversee the management of the full data life-cycle.  In liaison with colleagues in Information Technology and Office Services act, when necessary, as an Enterprise/ Solutions / and Data Architect on major IT investments.  

  • Lead, motivate and develop teams to ensure the quality and quantity of work is of the agreed standard with clear, stretching and measurable objectives being set and achieved to agreed timescales and that progress is monitored via regular meetings and the appraisal process.  

  • Develop effective business relationship management and partnering arrangements across directorates and teams to ensure that business and user requirements are central to investments in programmes and projects to improve business capabilities.  

  • Refine data architecture frameworks to adopt a holistic and controlled approach encompassing data strategies, data governance, master data management, data and entity relations modelling, taxonomies and dictionaries, metadata systems, data interoperability/interfacing, data migration, and data reporting with business intelligence to interpret and meet business needs/requirements.  

Key Requirements

  • Degree educated in a numerate, data or computer science related discipline - or relevant military experience.

  • Knowledge of Programme and Project Management Methodologies – e.g. OGC Programme Management, PRINCE 2, Agile with appropriate certification  

  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role.  Extensive strategic thinking experience to deliver data architectures and master data management.  

  • Expert level experience in turning business problems into data design  

  • Profoundly competent at communicating between the technical and the non-technical.   

  • Demonstrable experience in running data architecture programmes encompassing several projects at the same time working with cross functional teams.  Experience gathering and analysing system requirements.

  • Extensive experience in the areas of responsibility at a senior level in IT Management  

  • Experience of managing a team delivering major business and data capability investments under varied governance arrangements.  

  • Planning and delivery of data management training programmes for new and improved business capabilities for a complex organisation.  Initiating innovative solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
