Introduction to cyber security with Resilient 

We are able to offer you this training for free as part of IBMs commitment to supporting former or transitioning Armed Forces personnel. The course will be delivered by IBM. 

Course content

A three day course covering cyber security fundamentals, Security Operations Centre (SOC) Overview, hands on exercises and finishing with full training on IBM Resilient, an Incident Response platform used by many SOC Teams around the world.

Day 1 – Introductions, cyber security overview, hands on hacking exercises

Day 2 – SOC overview, tools, hands on SOC exercises

Day 3 – Resilient overview, training labs, Resilient test

When is the course being held?

Please note, the 2019 dates are provisional and subject to change

  • 5 - 7 February 2019

  • 4 - 6 June 2019

  • 15 - 17 October 2019 

  • 3 - 5 December 2019

Each day runs from approximately 9am - 5pm. We do not charge a fee to attend the course, however, you will be responsible for your own travel, accommodation and food costs for the duration of the course. If you are in resettlement and using GRT for the course you can claim all subsistence back upon completion of the required MODF 1746. Please see your Unit Resettlement Officer for a copy of this form.

Where is the course taking place?

The course will take place at Hartham Park, in Corsham, Wiltshire. Please note that this is not an MOD establishment.

This course is delivered as part of a partnership between ourselves, IBM and the Corsham Institute.

What you need to qualify for the course

You don’t have to have advanced technical skills to be successful in this course. We request that applicants:

  • Are IT literate with Windows Excel experience;

  • Have a desire to learn about security technologies and have an interest in working in a cyber security operations centre, or SOC;

  • And are either a job seeker or are in resettlement.

Who is the course aimed at

The course is aimed at former and transitioning Armed Forces personnel with a general operations background. Advanced technical skills are not necessary for you to do well on this course.

This is a good foundation course for anyone looking to work in a cyber security operations centre. We are looking for people who have a keen interest in broadening their horizons and wish to pursue a career in cyber security.

What qualification will you gain

If you pass this course you will be awarded a IBM Resilient Digital Badge.
