About The Cyber Security Training Course
Are you interested in cyber security? Do you want to get qualified on IBM’s security intelligence platform? If the answer is yes, then sign up for the Free Cyber Security Training Course for Service leavers, veterans and reservists.
When is the course?
In December 2016, we ran a pilot course. Due to the success of the week's course we ran another in May and will be running our final course this September:
- 4th - 8th Sep 2017
Where Is The Course Taking Place?
The course will take place at Corsham Institute in Corsham, Wiltshire.
What Will You Learn?
Students will learn to navigate the IBM QRadar user interface and how to investigate offences. You will search and analyse the information from which QRadar concluded as suspicious activity and conduct hands-on exercises to reinforce the skills learned. The course covers system configuration, data source configuration, and remote networks and services configuration.
Module 1: Foundation
The first two days will introduce you to the IBM QRadar product. You will learn to log events and network flow data from thousands of devices, endpoints and applications distributed throughout a network. It normalises and correlates raw data to identify security offences, and uses an advanced Sense Analytics engine to baseline normal behaviour, detect anomalies, uncover advanced threats and remove false positives.
The IBM QRadar Foundation:
- Provides real-time visibility to the entire IT infrastructure for threat detection and prioritisation.
- Reduces and prioritises alerts to focus security analyst investigations on an actionable list of suspected, high probability incidents.
- Enables more effective threat management while producing detailed data access and user activity reports.
- Offers multi-tenancy and a master console to help managed service providers provide security intelligence solutions in a cost-effective manner.
Module 2: Administration
The second 2 days builds on the foundation course, covering system configuration, data source configuration, and remote networks and services configuration. This will be followed by one day of practical ‘Cyberkombat’ training.
"The course was intense however, as it was well taught, I did not feel out of my depth at any point."
- Chris Lemin
Who Are The Courses Aimed At?
The course is aimed at former and transitioning Armed Forces personnel who are looking to work within cyber security.
This is a good foundation course for anyone looking to work in a support and operations environment. We are looking for people who have a keen interest in broadening their horizons and wish to pursue a career in cyber security.
- IT literate with windows experience
- Desire to learn about security technologies and best practices.
What qualification will you gain?
If you pass this course you will be awarded an IBM Open Badge.
What is an IBM Open Badge?
IBM credentials are recognised, respected and valued globally in the IT industry, but communicating your credentials in today’s ever-expanding online marketplace can be challenging. IBM has established this opportunity so you may easily and quickly share verified proof of your achievement wherever and whenever you choose. Where applicable, your IBM credentials will be represented by a digital image that contains verified metadata describing your qualifications and the rigorous process necessary to earn them.
