Cyber Security Training

Most people think cyber security jobs are very technical and require IT skills and qualifications - WRONG! While some roles are of course very technical, your general military security training and experience are highly transferable to information security - where there is a huge shortage of quality people. Employers are urgently seeking people for jobs such as Security Operations Centre (SOC) analysts/ managers, security consultants or in policy, risk or compliance roles, all of which are very well suited to military generalists. For more info, download our brochure below.

Thanks to a partnership with IBM and the Corsham Institute we are able to offer veterans and reservists free training in three of IBMs key cyber security software products.

The training is delivered by IBM approved trainers and is held at the Corsham Institute offices in Wiltshire.

These courses are aimed at former and transitioning Armed Forces personnel who are looking to work within cyber security or information security. You don’t have to have advanced technical skills to take part in these courses. We request that applicants:

  • Are IT literate with Windows experience;

  • Have a desire to learn about security technologies.

Please note that we will prioritise applications from:

  • Job seeking ex-service personnel or those in resettlement;

  • Those students who haven't already completed one of these courses;

  • Students who are less technically skilled.

I will of course champion SaluteMyJob wherever I go and promote the positive work you all do.” Andy Cowburn, IBM Resilient student, December 2018 - now working for IBM

“It was really, really good! I highly recommend to anyone. The instructor was amazing. She made it really down to earth, really enjoyable to learn. The content and the whole course itself was pitched amazingly. It was just really interesting and was the best course I have done so far.” Jasmine Eyers, i2 course student, November 2018

“I was so surprised that there were free courses out there with such high caliber. The instructor's method of teaching was brilliant. There was a lot to take in but it was really good. It massively reignited my ambitions to go down the cybersecurity route." Rebecca Thomas, i2 course student, November 2018

“Just a quick note about the Cyber Security course over the last three days, which I thought was excellent. The instructors were very engaging and clearly extremely competent. The lessons and exercises on hacking and phishing, the TOR network and dark web were both fascinating and pretty scary too. Moreover their willingness to let us deep dive on points of interest and to provide answers tailored to our level of knowledge was the icing on a very high quality cake.” - Ted, Resilient course student, September 2018

“I want to thank you for running an excellent Resilient course providing an insight into the essentials of cybersecurity. My interest in working for cybersecurity and meeting all your needs and requirements for the position increased after the training course.” - Billy McDavid, Resilient course student, September, 2018
